Case:
Pas Normal Studios
Thomas and Simon worked closely with Pas Normal Studios on a complete relaunch of their e-commerce platform in 2021.
From choosing platform and vendors. To initial planning, development and launching of a digital B2C flagship store and B2B platform, which are both linking existing systems with 7 individual and advanced Shopify stores. Stores with automated and advanced language versioning, currencies and pricing.
A great Brand
- even better at Story Telling.
Pas Normal Studios already had a well-established strategic direction, great story telling and community driven engagement with riders across the world.
To wrap that in a digital context we brought in E-types as a close ally throughout the full duration of the project - to manage digital concept, UX and a digital design system.
An Iterative Process
With stacks of Figma files at hand and continuous dialogue with internal and external stakeholders, the development process could be started. Initially based on proof-of-concepts but slowly developing into a functioning platform delivering a proper customer experience and data for continuous testing of integrations with other systems.
Anchored in marketing sparked a natural focus on brand and customer experience. While numerous discussions with merchandising, customer service and finance secured optimal structures, workflows and processes before launch.
B2B Portal
The relaunch of pasnormalstudios.com included a brand new B2B platform based on Shopify in addition.
Individual B2B customer logins give access to pre-ordering and promotions of selected categories and collections.
All synchronised and integrated with existing ERP system.
Automation
Securing that 7 Shopify shops, 3 language versions and 6 currencies wouldn’t overturn finance, customer service, logistics or marketing, automation was a corner stone of the defined workflows.
Content elements for complex PDPs were made to be repurposed. And structures for warehouse and order management were simplified to eliminate manual work.
Accounting, currency management, VAT and all financial details required for the ERP system was built in an automated setup to support swift reporting and to eliminate human errors.
Technical Integrations
Some would surely call it “Composable Commerce”. We call it “Common Sense”.
We integrated our platform with Business Central ERP, Webshipper and Shopify Plus. Depending on markets Shopify Payments and Quickpay was implemented as payment gateways.
Language management and translations is managed through an EasyTranslate integration.
Size matching to limit returns is supported by EyeFitU.
Customer case limits response time and time spent on returns with Gorgias and Webshipper.
All email related activities is managed through a close integration with Active Campaign.
A taylor-made frontend
Based on Figma files the Shopify frontend theme was built. Based on eg. Tailwind for optimal performance, increased flexibility and minimal requirements for maintenance.
Advanced PIM system
Our platform manages and publishes advanced collections and product pages. The PIM system enriches fairly simple data available in the ERP system.
Integrated CMS
Our platform makes it possible to publish advanced articles directly to the different Shopify platforms. Based on 15 different and predefined content types.
Simple workflows
To ease the publishing of advanced product pages, our platform was adapted to an optimal workflow to minimise repetition.
Automated translations
For localisation to specific markets we integrated the platform and content production directly with EasyTranslate - making it possible to publish localised content with a single click.
6+1 Shopify shops
Bases on strategy on markets and expansion we published 6 separate stores in 3 language versions and 5 currencies. Add to that a B2B platform appreciated by the customers.
The Results
Founded on 3 months of on/off research, dialogue and planning work was initiated mid January 2021. On June 1st 2021 - as planned - Pas Normal Studios’ new combined brand and e-commerce platform was launched.
Two and a half hours later, Simon and Thomas went for lunch without any disturbing calls on things that didn’t work - because it worked!
Since then multiple products and collections in several localised versions have been launched without any technical involvement.
The platfom is integrated with Active Campaign as their CRM platform, which is managing collections and products sold out in minutes. Oh, and the site won a Creative Circle Award.
